Reimagining Education

I've had the privilege of working in and with great schools all across the country -- and the Blue School is one of the best I've ever seen. I admire its commitment to the uniqueness of each child, to using the latest research about how we learn to create the best possible environments for children, and to giving kids lots of opportunities to see the world through lots of different lenses. Simply put, every child needs and deserves to attend a school like this. -- Sam Chaltain

Blue School opened in the fall of 2006 with the dream of creating a joyful, integrated educational experience for the families in our community and beyond. Our beautiful building on Water Street in Lower Manhattan enables our inspiring team of teachers and administrators to serve children age 2 through 5th grade and gives us a permanent home base from which we can share learning with educators around the world.

Throughout the course of their journey at Blue School, children develop a deep understanding of themselves as learners. As they explore the world around and within themselves, they acquire the agency and internal motivation to pursue their ideas and inquiries with uncommon depth and breadth. They are accustomed to bringing their unique point of view to both academic and social challenges and have the support they need within the community to take big chances and either succeed or fail with full commitment and humor.
